Master Bedroom, Bathroom, and Closet Completely Missing Ceiling Insulation

Absolute Inspections’ Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan detects missing insulation in this Master Suite. Inspection was during the winter so the proper picture would have the shades inverted. The thin yellow lines are the ceiling joists, these should be dark in the winter.

The home owner wondered why the master bedroom was so uncomfortable year-round. This builder "oversight" cost the homeowner a significant amount of money as well as making them uncomfortable in their own bedroom. The builder had been out several times and stated that nothing was wrong. Absolute Inspections’ Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan detected the problem immediately.

Active Water Leak - Upstairs Toilet Leak

Absolute Inspections’ Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan detects active moisture in the ceiling of this downstairs room. Spot is located directly below an upstairs bathroom toilet.

Further testing of this location with a traditional moisture meter reveals elevated moisture levels and indicates further testing is needed. Without the Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan finding, no testing with a moisture meter would have been completed as there were no visible signs of a problem.

Suspect toilet is operated multiple times to determine if additional water will become visible. The resulting Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan shows very clearly that more moisture is present. If you look closely you can see a trail of moisture extending from the dark spot to the left.

HVAC Ductwork Leakage

Absolute Inspections' Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan reveals that the HVAC ductwork is leaking air into the ceiling cavity. Notice the dark area between the registers, bracketed by the ceiling/floor joists. This Infrared Image was taken after the air conditioning had been running for a while.

To confirm this problem the furnace is run for a period of time. Note how in this photo the area between that was cold (dark) before has turned hot (light) because of the heated air escaping the ductwork into the ceiling. This condition is an efficiency concern and can lead to moisture problems from condensation over time. There is no way this would have been discovered without our Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan.

This process is part of every inspection we perform, not an add-on or option.

This remarkable camera allows us to see in the infrared spectrum. Any inspection that does not use this technology is only "seeing" half the picture! While the inspection is still a visual inspection, Our Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan process allows us to inspect in the infrared spectrum of light.

Our experience shows us that about half of our inspections uncover a problem that is ONLY visible with our infrared technology. Active moisture intrusion, missing insulation, disconnected HVAC ductwork and electrical hotspots are just some of the common issues that we routinely discover using this technology.

Do not settle for less than an Absolute Inspections, LLC home inspection including our revolutionary Infrared Thermal Imaging Scan!
